The Premise

You're a regular high-school age teenager.  Everything was normal in your life...and then one day, you received a mysterious email.  You weren't sure where it was from, or who sent it, but it promised you great riches and power.

First you thought it was spam and deleted it.  But it kept coming, more and more emails.  You tentatively click the link...if only to get the emails to stop, and find yourself at an online Chatroom.

The Midnight Chatroom.

And you're not alone.  20 others are here with you, all of them receiving the same email.

Now, together, you must figure out why you've been invited to the Midnight Chatroom, what brought you here, who the mysterious nose of a man Igor is, and what he means when he keeps saying you need to "unlock the power within."

As you progress through the online world of the Midnight Chatroom, you will form bonds with one another...something Igor says will "strengthen your heart."

The Other World and Dungeons

The Other World is only accessed through the Midnight Channel's VR Chat sections.  While spending time with your friends in the VR Sections, you found yourself a portal to the Other World.

The Other World is a mirrored reflection of our world made manifest in a video game.  It is comprised of multiple levels, like a dungeon in a Video Game, or an overworld.

The Dungeons within the Other World are a relfection of the state of one's true heart and their Arcana.

Within you will find Personas of your Arcana, and treasure too.  Riches and ruin lie within the Dungeons, but so does the chance to unlock your true potential by defeating the Trials of the Heart within your personal Dungeon.

The deeper you go, the greater the risk and reward and the stronger your Persona can become.

You are limited to accessing your personal Dungeon only at the beginning, but as you unlock stronger Social Links, you will be able to unlock deeper and deeper levels within the Dungeons of other Arcanas.  By maxing out your Social Links with others, you can completely clear the deepest levels of their Dungeons as well.

When you conquer your own Dungeon, you unlock the true power within your heart...and the path to ultimate power becomes unlocked.

Personas

Personas are the power of your true self, your inner heart, made manifest in The Other World.  When one has accessed the Other World, and encountered their Other Self, they unlock the power within their heart, and thus, their Persona.

Everyone has but a single Persona to start.  As your level grows, so does your Persona's--your Level is your Persona's Level.

As your level grows, and you defeat the challenges within your own palace, you unlock new levels and forms for your Persona.  The more you master yourself, the stronger your Persona gets, and its true form changes with your heart.

Your Persona will have their own Resistances and Weaknesses.  They are as follows:

 • Reflect applies to a defender's resistance against an element or type of attack which reflects the damage back at the user
 • Absorbs applies to resistance that allows the defender to absorb the damage they would have taken as health, healing themselves
 • Block applies to resistances where the defender will always block the attack, nullifying all damage and effects.  The damage is neither reflected, nor absorbed, simply negated
 • Resist applies to resistances where the attacker's damage is halved because of innate resistance
 • Weak applies to weaknesses where the defender takes 1.5x the damage done by the attacker because of innate weaknesses

These are the following types of moves a Persona can learn:

 • Physical, similar to the damage done by your melee weapon, running off the same stat calculation, though the cost for these moves is usually a set amount of HP
 • Gun, similar to the damage done by your ranged firearm, running off the same stat calculation, though the cost of these moves is usually a set amount of HP
 • Elemental, divided up into several different elements, also known as Magic, the cost of these moves costs SP
 • Support, these moves boost allied/user states temporarily and ower opponent stats temporarily
 • Healing, are HP/SP healing moves
 • Ailment, these moves cause status conditions in targets
 • Passive, these skills cannot be used at will, and will kick in periodically, or when certain conditions/timing has been met

While Personas are usually limited to one or two elements, they can be taught moves that do not match their elemental affinity through the use of Skill Cards, purchased from the Velvet Room assistant or awarded from quests or loot.

Persona moves, especially Physical and Gun damage moves, have something known as "Amount Modifiers."  The Amount Modifiers are noted in move descriptions, and apply to most, if not all, moves.

They are denoted by the following:

 • Light indicates a modifier of x1 to damage/healing done
 • Medium indicates a modifier of x1.5 to damage/healing done
 • Heavy indicates a modifier of x2 damage/healing done
 • Severe indicates a modifier of x3 damage/healing done
 • Colossal indicates a modifier of x5 damage/healing done

Stats, SP, Calculations, Weapons and More

Your Statistics, or Stats are as follows:

 • Strength, which defines your Attack Value
 • Magic, which defines your Attack Value when attacking with SP-based attacks
 • Endurance, which defines your Defense Value as well as your HP modifiers
 • Agility, which defines the attack turn order
 • Luck, which defines your chance at getting a Critical Hit

Stats are boosted by your items and based off your Persona.  Your base stats are the stats of your Persona, which grow as your and they level up together.

Your Persona's highest stat will go up by +3 upon level up.  Your Persona's next two highest stats will gain +2.  The lowest two stats will only gain a +1.

When attacking with your Melee Weapon, your Attack Value is your Base Strength + Melee Weapon Value +/- Weaknesses and Resistances of your opponent(s).

When attacking with your Firearm Weapon, your Attack Value is your Base Strength + Firearm Weapon Value +/- Weaknesses and Resistances of your opponent(s).

When defending, your Defense is your Base Endurance + Plus your Armour +/- Resistances and Weaknesses of yourself.

When using Magic/SP Moves, your Base Magic is added or subtracted to/from Resistances and Weaknesses of your opponent(s).

SP is a determined value, like Mana, that will increase it's maximum value as you level up, same with your HP.

Critical Hits are rare occurences when Physical and Gun moves that do 1.5x damage, as well as down opponents, allowing for a +1 More to your moves this turn.  +1 More can chain.

HP is calculated by adding your Base Endurance value to 100.  It increases as your Persona's Endurance grows.

Weapons deal Physical damage are divided into the following classes:

 • Sword (Katana)
 • Sword (Rapier)
 • Sword (Straight)
 • Sword (Scimitar)
 • Dagger
 • Dual Wield (Wakizashi)
 • Dual Wield (Dagger)
 • Claw Weapon
 • Brass Knuckles
 • Whip
 • Club
 • Spear
 • Polearm
 • Axe
 • Hammer (Two Handed)

Firearms deal Gun damage are the following classeS:

 • Pistol
 • Machine Gun
 • Shotgun
 • Sawed Off Shotgun
 • Revolver
 • Grenade Launcher
 • Assault Rifle
 • Repeating Rifle
 • Slingshot
 • Rocket Launcher
 • Bow

Once you pick your Firearms and Melee Weapon class, you are stuck with that class until your character dies or the game is ended.

Elements, Resistances and Weaknesses

The Persona Magic elements are as follows:

 • Fire
 • Ice
 • Electric
 • Wind
 • Psychokenisis
 • Nuclear
 • Bless
 • Curse
 • Almighty
 • Ailment

The list of weaknesses and resistances are as follows:

 • Fire affinity Personas are weak to Ice.
 • Ice affinity Personas are weak to Fire.
 • Electric affinity Personas are weak to Wind.
 • Wind affinity Personas are weak to Electric.
 • Psychokenisis affinity Personas are weak to Nuclear.
 • Nuclear affinity Personas are weak to Psychokenisis.
 • Bless affinity Personas are weak to Curse.
 • Curse affinity Personas are weak to Bless.
 • Almighty has no weaknesses or resistances, and vice versa.  Almighty damage is calculated by adding your Base Strength to your Base Magic.  Only the "Amount" modifiers are applied to Almighty.

Social Links

As you progress through the game, it is important to note that you are recommended to form bonds and strengthen your Social Links.

Your friendship with your Social Links will provide you extra power as you travel through the Other World dungeons, and unlock secret potentail within you and your Social Link.

Levelling up your Social Links requires spending time with your Social Link, afterwards, you will grade each other on a scale of 1 to 5, as to how important/significant the hang out has been toward your character's development, as well as the friendship development between the two characters.

Your grade will be the Social Points earned at that Social Link level.  Once you reach a certain level of points each level, you will Rank Up your Social Link to the next level.

Social Link hang outs are encouraged to be quick, In-Character hangouts, and will occur in the Midnight Channel VR Chat section.

Social Stats

Your Social Stats are a set of five skills that align with your Persona's Base Stats.  Increasing your Social Stats is a recommended, as it will make more items available to your in shops, it will allow it to be easier to navigate Social Link levels for certain Links granting Social Point boosters for certain Links, and will increase certain multipliers/modifiers for your Base Stats.

They can be increased by completing missions, reading books, or even buying items and spending time with Social Links.

As you do these things, you will earn Stat Points, and these stat points will add up.  Earning certain cumulitve amounts of Stat Points you will rank up your Social Stats to the next level.  There are a total of five levels.

Your Social Stats and their Base Stat alignment are as following:

 • Knowledge = Magic
 • Guts = Strength
 • Proficiency = Agility
 • Kindness = Endurance
 • Charm = Luck
