Personality: Olivia (Or Livy for short) is a thespian at heart. As such, she tends to add a lot of drama to everything she does. The good kind of drama. She tends to use silly voices in an attempt to get people to laugh and is often overly dramatic (in a sarcastic/joking way).

Livy has always believed that beauty is best found within. She likes to break the mold. Cursed with astigmatisms in both eyes and stuck wearing glasses? Be fun and outgoing instead of hiding behind glass windows in a plastic frame. Shorter than average? Develop a commanding voice. Demand respect in your own way. Livy is truly one of a kind.

Arcana: Death

5 Likes: Pizza, the theatre, listening to musicals, dancing in the rain, and action movies. In that order.
5 Dislikes: Skimpy clothes, makeup, rules, cats (don’t ask), and killjoys

5 Strengths: Outgoing, positive, headstrong, creative, and good at adapting
5 Weaknesses: Not great at making decisions, doesn’t think things through, bottles up her negative emotions, has a tendency to burst into tears for seemingly no reason but refuses to talk about it, and is sometimes overly trusting of strangers

10 Fears: 1) Werecats (shut up, it’s a real thing)
2) Repeated failure. Sure, you’re not expected to get every role you audition for, but a long string of failures can be pretty devastating.
3) Excessively large people. Livy can stand up to people taller than her, but there is a line between big enough to be intimidating and big enough to crush her. Which leads to…
4) Trampling. This also includes being run over.
5) Ending. The whole world’s a stage. But every play eventually ends.
6) Zombies. Shut up, those are real too.
7) Being forced to wear something she’s not comfortable with for a role
8 ) Animatronics. “They’re just acting. Someday they’ll rise up and kill us all.”
9) Heights. She miiiight have almost fallen off a water slide as a kid and hasn’t set foot on a ladder since.
10) Being alone. Livy relies on social interaction. She hates feeling abandoned or lonely.

Character Flaw(s): Livy’s biggest flaw is her temper. While she’s often cool and collected, specific actions (people insulting her friends, overly harsh criticism, etc.) can push her over a certain line. And once that line is crossed...well, let’s just say she’s made adults cry before.

It might be difficult to believe, but Olivia wasn’t always so fun and outgoing. She didn’t always have a “fight the power” attitude about her. And she wasn’t always so confident in herself. In fact, growing up was incredibly difficult for her.

Olivia never knew her birth parents. She’d been told that she was an accident. A mistake. A couple of teenagers who went too far without the proper safeguards. The girl didn’t know she was pregnant until it was too late to do anything about it. Soon after her birth, Olivia was placed in hospital custody and then sent off to be raised in the foster system.

She was always smaller than the other kids, and often picked on. She moved from home to home, as foster parents found it to be easier to move the child being teased than the many teasing her.

For most of her childhood, she was bullied. A target.

But everybody has that one person that changes their lives for the better.

Olivia first met Jeremy Mortenson in middle school. He wasn’t a counselor. He wasn’t even a teacher. Jeremy was the school janitor. And he was one of Olivia’s closest friends.

“Everybody’s gonna tell you that you just have to shut it out. I guess that’s an option, but it never worked for me personally.”

“Then what did you do?”

“Well, I simply decided to smile.” He flashed a toothy grin. “Sometimes, I even laughed along with ‘em. Soon enough, I wasn’t worth the effort, and the bullying stopped.”

“Smile? Really? What good can a smile do?”

“You’d be surprised just how much a smile can change somebody.”

She tried it. It was strange at first. The bullies seemed more confused than anything. But over time, as she smiled and laughed more, not only did the teasing lessen, but she became happier herself.

“See? Now what did I tell ya?” Livy turned around to see Jeremy walking up behind her.

“It works. But I don’t understand why.”

“Because...well, I suppose it’s best to just show ya.” He turned to the trophy case. “I want you to smile at yourself.” She did as instructed. “What do you see?”

Livy pushed her glasses up. “I see me smiling. So?”

“Look closer. Look at your eyes.”

It was hard to see in the glass, but Livy thought she saw it. A sparkle.

“I think I see it. A...a little sparkle, right?”

“Now yer thinking straight. When people see that light in your eyes, they see a strength that can’t be beat. No mean words can ever break that light.”

Livy laughed. A long, hearty laugh. Jeremy smiled.

“Olivia, my wife and I, we’s been wantin’ to adopt for a while now. But my wife, see, she don’t like little kids much. But you’re already a teenager, and a great one to boot.”

“Are you saying…”

“Ya wanna be part of my family?”

Jeremy and his wife didn’t have much at the time. Jeremy was a high school dropout, and couldn’t get a better job than being a school janitor. But that didn’t stop the couple from loving and supporting Olivia in everything she did.

That day inspired Olivia to make a major change in her life. She wasn’t going to let her hardships hold her down. No matter what, she’s smile. She’d be cheerful. And she would love her life even if it felt completely pointless.
